On January 1, 2020, the 2019 California Building Energy Efficiency Standards went into effect, with the exception of Mechanical Acceptance Test Technician (MATT) certification mandates. The required number of certified MATTs has not yet been met under the standards.

All the procedures and documentation for mechanical acceptance testing must be performed. Certification of MATTs and Mechanical Acceptance Test Employers (MATEs) will be required once the minimum threshold of 300 certified MATTs statewide for all ATTCP programs has been verified by the CEC.
